4/17/2017

Well this week's adversity was completely anticipated given last week
was insanely miraculous hahaha. One thing I love about the Gospel of
Jesus Christ is that if we have a strong foundation and abide in his
love even challenges and can be a joyful experience. This week was
honestly fantastic straight up. Little different outline this week
tho! Investigators:

Jared Gonzalez: he's 8 and his dad is fairly inactive (making a
comeback) he's getting baptized this coming weekend. April 23! We
taught him almost everything so far. He's a super smart kid and
definitely wants to make this choice on his own. Freakin love him
hahaha. He asked me to confirm him.

Monse Castillo: she is Jared's mom. She's been investigating the
church for years straight up. Her and her boyfriend haven't picked a
date for marriage yet but keep them in your prayers! She wants to get
baptized so bad....๐Ÿค™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Ether y Raul Fines: they are from El Salvador (s/o to Eli Wade again)
and didn't make it to church this week:/ flaked on us. But they really
want to see a baptism before they decide on their own to become
members so this week will be perfect for that!

Lopez Family: Dad-Candilario, Mom- Maria, Kids- Omar, Christina,
Itzel, and a little baby boy. They came to church again this week!! He
only thing is we literally haven't been able to get in and teach them
any lessons, but they've came to all our events and meetings. Have an
Appt this week and we're hoping to push for baptism ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿผ

Itzel y Karina Aguirre: they chicas are like 21 and 25 are progressing
so well but just cannot come to church...they're the ones who threw a
BDay party for me ๐ŸŽ‰ Itzel has work schedule problems and Karina is a
flojera right now... step by step with them!

District Update: I love being District Leader! Especially when you get
to see others having success in their areas of work! One thing I've
done well so far is following up with all the missionaries in the
district on commitments that I've given them or that we've all been
given. One of which is inviting investigators to be baptized in the
first lessons through initially establishing our purpose with them and
then following through at the end. One example. We had a very fun and
spiritual District Meeting on Wednesday and centered everything upon
the Atonement of Jesus Christ. One thing that struck out to me is that
if we truly recognize the role which the Savior's Atonement plays in
our lives our desire and capacity to share it with others will grow
exponentially.

Companion Background: Elder Hatch is from Twin Falls, Idaho. He has a
twin brother serving in Houston and was a wrestler ๐Ÿคผ football player,
and is super hard working. He's been out for 7 and 1/2 months. He's
pretty solid at Spanish as well!

Spiritual Moment: This week I had the opportunity to testify of the
Plan of Salvation specifically, a lot more than usual. One thing stuck
out to me this week. I asked dozens of people what they thought the
purpose of this life is, and no one could give me an answer. How
blessed are we to know our divine purpose as sons and daughters of God
here on this earth. I know that God had a plan before this life for us
to come here and to learn and grow (through experience), to have
bodies and families just like he does, so that eventually we can
return back to his presence with the relationships we've made and the
knowledge we've gained. I know families are forever. I know that
trials are a part of us becoming who God knows and wants us to be.
Brother and Sister Heap and the Heap family I love all of you. I know
this is true. There's no way it isn't.

Title: Milagros Milagros Milagros y Fiestas ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

Buenas semanassss muchachos la obra estรก aumentando en el campo en
Lebanon Tennessee!!!! Such an awesome week everything is going super
well area wise and companion wise! The District is progressing and we
all are super unified which is keyyyy to success tho!

Tuesday: so big thing we had coming up on the weekend was a Branch
activity for Easter and so Elder Hatch and I went to several public
Hispanic markets and posted fliers and invited a lot of people to it
and in the meantime we have been sharing our Easter Initiative Video a
LOT! I INVITE ALL OF YOU to go to Mormon.org and watch the videos for
#PrinceOfPeace

Wednesday: I want to use this day to talk about the Castillo Family!
The boyfriend Adrian is a super less active member who just recently
started to allow missionaries in the house. His girlfriend Monserrat
has been investigating for 5 YEARS and wants to be baptized but Adrian
doesn't want to get married. They have an 8 year old son as well. We
are working diligently with them:) (see Sunday for results). We also
had a Birthday party an one of our investigators houses named Itzel:)
they made us pupusas (my favorite food, shout out to Eli Wade) and
even got a Tres Leches Cake for us!!! Best party ever and even had our
Branch President Ueki with us.

Thursday: wellllllllll I'm 20. Exiting the teens was not a good
feeling at all honestly hahahah but I'm ready to take on this decade.
Best decade of my life coming up!!! We had such an amazing day I
wouldn't trade it for anything. Highlights were that we went to
Bangkok Thai Pad as a District and enjoyed some delicious grub, put in
work all day meeting people and preaching the good word. The Sisters
destroyed our apartment door with hearts and candy! thanks to all
those who wished me a happy birthday as well I LOVE YOU!! Went to
dinner at Los Compadres with a less active members and ate as much
carne asada and horchata as I could. No lie set 2 appointments just at
dinner too so that was cool. To put the cherry in top we had such a
spiritual lesson with Esther y Raul en su casa and showed them the
investigator talk by Elder Costa this past Conference. We attempted to
set them on date but they still want to learn more and to see a
baptismal service (there wasn't one coming up but keep scanning ahead
for the miracle)! Best birthday!!! Love you padres!!!

Friday: Zone Training Meeting for the Cookeville Zone. I gave my first
training in front of a Zone so that was something new. Also I sang in
front of people for the first time in my life hahaha. We did a Quartet
with Elder Porter, Elder Urry, Elder Hatch, and I! District Unity
though. I got to talk to President Griffin as well about some of the
things that went down last area as well and he reassured me that I was
doing great and that I tried my best. Supposedly we had like a 30
minute interview and everyone was wondering why it was so long hahaha,
love that man.

Saturday: First off, we play basketball at the church every Saturday
with a bunch if nonmember college kids which is a definite plus to the
week. So fun, and let's us get a back into a competitive zone that
lacks sometimes with missionaries haha. We had a Branch Easter
Activity for the kids (East per egg hunt, etc.) and we had a pen
investigator FAMILY come. The Lopez Family. There are two parents and
with 4 kids ages 14 and younger!! PRAY FOR THEM ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Sunday: Today was just a day off miracles! First off, we had 11 people
come to church! The whole Lopez Family, Esther y Raul y Anthony, and
Monse and her family!!! It was unreal in that sense. Most of them
stayed throughout the whole service! Afterwards, we were discussing
with President Ueki who had talked with Monse about having us teach
and baptize her son Jared! He has a date set up for April 23 and also
they said that next week they will have a date decided for getting
married!!!!!!! Not only will Jared get baptized but so will Monse! So
stoked. We also had the Easter Musical afterwards which we also sang
in:) The Lopez Family came to that as welll!!

The work is rolling and we are always working. This has been the most
tiring week of my mission so far hahaha. We get home and hit the beds
so hard it is very satisfying. I know the the Lord is the author of
all these successes that have been happening and as we continue to
work hard with patience in our afflictions the Lord will bless us and
others around us!

Scripture of the Week: Matthew 6:30-34

Love y'all

Title: Una Comienza Nueva en La Tierra Prometida

Buenasss!!!!!!! Absolutely insane week here in the mish life of Elder
Mac! For those of y'all who haven't heard I've been transferred to
Lebanon Tennessee which is super close to Nashville!! I'm serving here
in the Lebanon 2nd Spanish Branch which has about 50 active members!!
They are all amazing straight up. Love these Hispanics though!!:) The
vibe here in Lebanon is super chill and there's a lot of great people!
My companion Elder Hatch is the MAN!!

I hope all of you enjoyed this last General Conference!! Conference on
the mission is probably one of the best things on the mission hands
down. Learned SO much!!!

Also I turn 20 years old this Thursday April 6... time flies my
goodness....sorry momma I can't stop it:/

Tuesday: spent most of the day packing up all of our stuff and saying
goodbye to a few families in the Poplar Creek Ward that I really
wanted to see!! The Phillips family fed us a ton of Hawaiian and
Samoan food so that ended it all on a fantastic note. Great people!
For the most part just had a nice chill day of seeing everyone.

Wednesday: today was probably one of the craziest days of my mission.
We left to Farragut for transfers and saw a lot of familiar faces
including MY FIRST MTC COMPANION ELDER DEITEGE!!!!!! He came back out
after going home for a few months and we went nuts when we saw each
other! Kinda like one of those hugging/running to each other movie
scenes lol! Departing we left to Lebanon with a truck full of
missionaries and unloaded my stuff and immediately went out to work!!
We taught like 7 lessons and I had the opportunity to meet several
members and the majority of our main investigator pool! Ate some carne
asada burritos to start it off๐Ÿ™ƒ just a lot of action that can't be
put into words!! Love the new start.

Thursday: one unique thing we do in this area is teach an English
class! We have a few people that come regularly (2) but we will try to
get more there! It's someone I've never done before and it makes me
use a side of my brain that has never been activated...ever hahaha.
Elder Hatchbis pretty good at teaching it so he's helping me with
that. I've been out a transfer longer than him so we're pretty close!

Friday: Weekly planning sesh with Hatch and it was a long one. We had
to clean out the area Book and really buckle down and set some goals
for this transfer and who we want to work with and what better angles
we can take at the work here. One golden investigator we have her name
is Monse and she is ready to get baptized and super active already but
her boyfriend who is a less active doesn't want to get married so we
are working with them and also teaching there 8 year son Jared to
prepare him for baptism!

Saturday: LA CONFERENCIA GENERAL!! We watched it in English which is
niceeeeeee. Had some investigators named Esther y Raul come to the
morning session and afterwards we asked them how hey felt about it.
They LOVED IT. They've been taught for awhile and we attempted to set
them on baptismal dates for this month but they said they would like
to pray about it! Sounds good to me haha๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Sunday: my favorite talk by far was the one given by President
Utchdorf at the end of the morning session. He talked a lot about
leading and helping others out of love and sincerity of heart and also
the ways in which we should not lead others such as my fear and other
vices. Tommy Monson came through with a beautiful talk about being
kind to others as well. He's a legend.

My new address is: 1007 B Amelia Place Lebanon, Tennessee 37090

I am SO excited to be able to work in this area! It is slow, but some
prime potential is in the books for sure! All I know is I love it here
so far and hope to be in this area for quite some time:) super similar
to my first area for sure! I LOVE YALL
